Blackie & Ella 2.1.12
Breeze
Status: Staff Pony
Height: 13.1 hh
YOB: 2001
Gender: Mare
Colour: Chestnut
Breed: Newforest
Owner: Jade Horspool
One could say Breeze is a bit of a character, which is why Jade likes her so much. Just as well someone as experienced as Jade owns her because this is not a straightforward mare! Breeze has definitely landed on all four hooves with Jade as her devoted owner.
Daisy
Status: Riding School/For Loan
Height: 13.2 hh
YOB: 2002
Gender: Mare
Colour: Grey
Breed: Irish Pony
Owner: LHS (Yeomans)
Dear Daisy was an unusual one for us. When she arrived from Ireland we thought: too young for our little riders and certainly unacceptably thin. Yet from day 1 Daisy belonged with us, proving a gentle, kind little mare who delights every small person who rides her because she, well, just belongs and always does her best to please.
Dave
Status: Staff Horse
Height: 14.3 hh
YOB: 2005
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Grey
Breed: Connemara
Owner: Holly Player
Dave originally came over to us as a second pony for our long-term livery Ella. When Ella outgrew him he was quickly snapped up by our full-time employee Holly who now keeps him with us on Staff Livery. She aims to enjoy all types of opportunities on Dave, now having her own horse to train and produce to compete in different disciplines including hunting, which all our staff enjoy participating in.
Dinky
Status: Working Livery
Height: 11.2 hh
YOB: 1996
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Bay
Breed: Irish Pony
Owner: Lydia McKimm
Dinky looks like the perfect mini version of a quality show hunter but is never going to go any faster than his small jockey would like. He was a favourite of the proprietor’s daughter when she was younger and attended many off-site Pony Club activities, whilst now he is showing his young owner Lydia the ropes. Dinky has been with us for years and is very much part of our family.
Domonic
Status: Working Livery/For Sale/For Loan
Height: 14 hh
YOB: 1993
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Chestnut
Breed: Show Pony Type
Owner: Alejandra de Brunner – now outgrown
Price: £1500 (only to remain at Lavant House Stables – also available to loan or half-share loan)
A reliable and kind pony who will melt your heart with his loving look. Domonic loves to jump and canter but he will make sure you are safe and sound on top!
Eddie
Status: Elite/Working Livery
Height: 14 hh
YOB: 1997
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Dun
Breed: Connemara
Owner: Evelyn Sadler
Eddie is a bit of a legend. Originally bought for the proprietor’s daughter he gave Amelia enormous confidence, so much so they were often seen jumping the top of the wings! When outgrown, Phoebe (Pexton) then took him over and had huge success on the Goodwood Pony Club teams, before also outgrowing him and then he was swiftly snapped up by Evelyn who is definitely following in Phoebe’s footsteps with this amazing pony.
Whilst clever and capable he may be, he is also quirky in that you can never tell him what to do, you have to let him think everything is his idea! A fantastic pony to provide the best possible grounding to the capable older child rider.

Eric
Status: Riding School/For Sale/For Loan
Height: 11 hh
YOB: 1997
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Grey (White)
Breed: Welsh Section A
Owner: LHS
Price: £1,950 (only for sale if to remain at Lavant House Stables)
Eric is a “chocolate box pony” as he really is the cutest pony you will ever see – so much so that it is always Eric who is dragged off to represent Lavant House Stables at any promotional activity where we can take a horse with us!
Originally with a well-known professional equestrian family as a first pony for their grand daughter, Eric is also broken to harness and has huge background experience in all types of activities, which again make him the ideal first pony. From the mum’s viewpoint, they don’t come much prettier than Eric either!
Gatsby
Status: Working Livery
Height: 13 hh
YOB: 2005
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Chestnut
Breed: Welsh Section B
Owner: Lily de Lacy
Gatsby is a little rascal, but a lovable with it and is hugely popular with all children as a second pony. He does it all and with great gusto – Gatsby’s least redeeming feature is his ability to escape from all types of situations, in particular his field and his stall. However he more than makes up for this with his sunny personality and has never looked back from the moment he arrived when he was delivered with out donkey, Diesel, straight off the Welsh mountains!
Joey
Status: Riding School/Half Share Loan
Height: 13 hh
YOB: 1994
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Bay
Breed: Welsh Section C
Owner: LHS
Joey is quiet enough to give confidence as a first pony but is also able to offer that little bit more such as competing at local shows. 100% to ride and handle, he is what every parent is looking for to safely introduce their children into horse riding and ownership.
He is incredibly cute with his big white face and two blue eyes. Joey is a really useful sort of pony, not only being ideal for the complete beginner but also able to do a bit more with a competitive rider – which is quite an unusual combination to find in a pony.
Lir
Status: Working Livery
Height: 14.2 hh
YOB: 1995
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Chestnut
Breed: Reg’d Connemara
Owner: Connor Pattison/Loan Owner: Bethany Stonefrost
Lir is a remarkable pony, so much so that when his owner Connor outgrew him, his mother, Caroline decided to hang on to him for her younger sons once they are large enough. So lucky Bethany gets the loan period of this hugely popular people that prospective purchasers were clamouring to buy once they knew Connor was moving on! This is a true school master, he has been out there, seen it and done it. There is nothing Lir does not know how to do well, sensibly and safely. We would like a yard full of Lirs!
Munchkin
Status: Riding School/Half Share Loan
Height: 11 hh
YOB: 1996
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Blue Roan
Breed: Welsh Section A
Owner: LHS/Loan Owner: Anna Douglas – other half-share available
Munchkin has been with us for many years now having arrived originally because he quite simply needed to be kept busy doing something and no just standing around in a field as a pet until his young owners had time to ride him during the school holidays!
Arriving with a list of health issues to make your hair curl and quite definitely needing professional management, Munchkin just keeps on going and is quite definitely the perfect pony to first teach your child to ride on – he goes when asked and stops when asked and is simply lovely to handle from the ground.
Munchkin is a very special pony and particularly more so now for being in our riding school where lots of children get the opportunity to realise just how special he is!
Ozzie
Status: Working Livery/For Sale/For Loan
Height: 12.2 hh
YOB: 1998
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Skewbald (Chestnut & White)
Breed: Irish Pony
Owner: Phoebe Johnson (other half-share available)
Price: £1500 – Ozzie is only for sale if to remain at Lavant House Stables
You would be hard-pressed to find a better first pony than Ozzie – even if he does have the most remarkable shape – nothing in his physique matches, including his colour!
Ozzie sort of came to us by default along with Squeak and Eddie, the latter being the show jumping pony the proprietor went to Kent to buy for her daughter, and in fact ended up coming back with several really useful ponies - an outing that really was a one-off and never to be repeated sadly! Looking over another stable door at the time and spotting Ozzie was one of the best questions she ever asked, which was: ”Is he for sale too?”
An extraordinary pony is the only way to describe Ozzie accurately. Every child should learn to ride on an Ozzie – and this just about says it all.
Pebbles
Status: Riding School/For Loan/For Sale
Height: 12 hh
YOB: 2001
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Bay
Breed: Welsh Section A
Owner: LHS
Price: £1500 – Pebbles is only for sale if to remain at Lavant House Stables, he is also available for loan and half-share loan
Pebbles is a “picture-perfect” pony with his striking colour, big round tummy and very dainty head.
The confident Pebbles really does know it all – he knows how to teach our smaller children to canter and jump and has the perfect manners to match. Pebbles is the ideal starter pony and we know we are very lucky to have him with us.
Polo
Status: Working livery
Height: 13.3 hh
YOB: 1994
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Grey (White)
Breed: Irish Pony
Owner: Molly Briggs
Polo is the perfect second pony – he does everything well and confidently and certainly suits the child who prefers a more forward going pony – although he would never dream of taking off with his rider. Good in all respects, Polo has done a lot of off site Pony Club activities as well as had success in show jumping and hunter trials. He has so far been the perfect second pony for three successive owners who have all gone on to more advanced horses thanks to the confidence and skills this pony has provided them with.
Rory
Status: Elite/Working Livery
Height: 14.3 hh
YOB: 2001
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Bay
Breed: Connemara
Owner: Phoebe McCall
Rory is a good looking, quality pony who has done it all and is therefore the perfect schoolmaster. It would be hard to find a more straight forward pony than Rory and he certainly sets up his riders for a confident and skilled future when they move onto horses.
Sailor
Status: Pony Pals
Height: 14.2 hh
YOB: 2004
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Golden Dun
Breed: Connemara
Owner: LHS/Loan Owners Francesca Kynan-Holmes and Layla Smith
Imported from Ireland in 2010 this lovely pony is a pleasure to ride and do, being easy in all respects. Lauren hunted him over the winter of 2010/11 proving his worth as a suitable mount for child or small adult. Now outgrown by the Quarrey family, Sailor is seeking a new owner. A beautiful pony with a lovely mind and no hang-ups, he is a sort that is usually hard to find. He is also of sufficient quality to successfully show in affiliated Mountain & Moorland classes.

Height: 13 hh
YOB: 1995
Gender: Mare
Colour: Palomino
Breed: Native Pony
Owner: LHS
Price: £1,950 (only for sale if to remain at Lavant House Stables)
This dear little mare was recommended to us by our instructor Jade and she really is as pretty as a picture being every little girl’s dream pony, especially as her nature is as lovely as her looks! An ideal first pony who loves to be made a fuss of and is also essentially good to handle, box, clip, shoe, hack, catch, etc.
Splash
Status: Riding School/For Loan
Height: 13.3 hh
YOB: 2003
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Skewbald (chestnut & white)
Breed: Irish Cob
Owner: Molly Briggs / Half sharer: Ellie Wright
Splash is a well put together, stocky pony who like most cobs can be ridden by adult or child and just gets on with whatever is asked of him without fuss or bother.
Squeak
Status: Riding School/For Sale/For Loan
Height: 12 hh
YOB: 1999
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Grey
Breed: Welsh Section B Type
Owner: LHS
Price: £1,950 (only for sale or loan if to remain at Lavant House Stables)
Squeak is an ideal first pony and has proven these credentials by successfully introducing several young owners over the years into the skills of horse-ownership. A pretty pony, he arrived with our other stars Eddie and Ozzie, and has participated in many Pony Club activities both on and off the lead rein. Children can handle him very easily and being a bit of a character further endears him to his child riders!
Todd
Status: Riding School/For Loan
Height: 11.3 hh
YOB: 1997
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Strawberry Roan
Breed: Welsh Section B
Height: 11.3hh
Owner: LHS
Todd came to us because he was so naughty at his previous home! Whilst Todd quickly settled into being a brilliant riding school pony, he also successfully attended many off site Pony Club activities and Hunter Trials with the proprietor’s daughter when she was younger.
Todd does it all, he’s good on the flat, over fences and hacks out calmly. Children can handle him easily and safely and he really knows his job inside-out. The perfect first pony for any small child – definitely worth his weight in gold.
Tyler
Status: Riding School/Half-Share Loan
Height: 13.2 hh
YOB: 1993
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Flea Bitten Grey
Breed: New Forest
Owner: LHS/Loan Owner: Eve Jolly – other half-share available
Tyler has been a riding school pony all his life and is fantastic at the job – he is also a bit of a character which we all love . A handsome, no-nonsense pony with a lot of experience but who is thankfully no longer the escape artist he used to be in the past, Tyler pretty much suits anybody as a first pony.
Willow
Status: Riding School/Half Share Loan
Height: 13 hh
YOB: 1995
Gender: Mare
Colour: Bay
Breed: Welsh Section B
Owner: LHS/Loan Owners: Daniel Winnett & Ellen Douglas
Willow has been with us for a long time and has successfully introduced a lot of children into pony ownership, many of whom are now seriously competing on horses. Always a hugely popular pony, Willow is a buzzy, safe, fun ride who also happens to be extremely pretty too. You only have to look at Willow to know she is definitely a girl!
Willow is a perfect schoolmaster for any child having had a lot of experience competing in all types of activities off site too – she is also a pony that just keeps on getting better with each passing year.
